Investing in Organizations That Change Lives

Here's how to apply — and what to expect.

We know that applying for grants takes time, energy, and heart — time you’d rather spend serving children and families. Our goal is to make the process as clear, respectful, and supportive as possible. We keep our guidelines straightforward, our expectations transparent, and our communication open, because your work matters and your time is valuable.

Our Grantmaking Approach

We invest in nonprofit organizations working to improve outcomes for children and families through education, food security, housing stability, and health and behavioral health supports. This includes programs serving children with chronic or serious health conditions — such as pediatric cancer — and the families who walk alongside them.

As a growing foundation, we accept Letters of Inquiry on a rolling basis and review proposals throughout the year. This flexible approach allows us to respond to community needs as they emerge and to build strong, lasting partnerships with organizations doing vital work.

We are particularly interested in partnering with organizations that:

  • Strengthen early childhood development and educational success
  • Address food insecurity with dignity and community‑rooted solutions
  • Support housing stability and family economic wellbeing
  • Expand access to physical, mental, and behavioral health services, including supports for children facing chronic or serious illnesses
  • Take a holistic or wraparound approach to supporting children and families
  • Demonstrate strong community trust and local leadership
  • Track and share meaningful outcome data
  • Collaborate with other organizations to strengthen the ecosystem of care

Eligibility Requirements

We welcome Letters of Inquiry from nonprofit organizations that share our commitment to improving outcomes for children and families. To be considered for funding, organizations should:

  • Be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in good standing with the IRS
  • Primarily serve children and families, with work in one or more of our priority areas: early childhood development, educational support, food security, housing stability, healthcare access (including support for children with chronic or serious illnesses), or family economic stability
  • Have at least two years of program activity
  • Be able to provide basic financial information that reflects stable operations (such as an annual budget or year‑end financial statements)
  • Be able to share information about program activities and outcomes

We encourage applications from organizations that are deeply connected to the communities they serve and bring trusted relationships, local insight, and a commitment to strengthening opportunities for children and families.

The Application Process

Follow these steps to submit your grant application to The Each Child Foundation.

Letter of Inquiry (LOI)

Submit a brief one‑ to two‑page Letter of Inquiry through our online portal or by email at grants@eachchildfoundation.org. The LOI gives us a quick understanding of your organization, the work you’re proposing, and the children and families you serve. LOIs are reviewed on a rolling basis, and you will hear from us within 30 days.

A typical LOI includes:

  • A short overview of your organization and mission
  • The need or opportunity your program addresses
  • The children and families you serve
  • Your proposed activities and expected outcomes
  • The amount of funding you are seeking
  • Any key partners involved in the work

If you have questions or need assistance preparing your LOI, you are welcome to reach out to us at info@eachchildfoundation.org

Invitation to Apply

If your LOI aligns with our current funding priorities, we will invite you to submit a full application. Not every LOI will move forward, and organizations that are not invited to apply will receive brief feedback.

Full Grant Application

If your LOI aligns with our current funding priorities, we will invite you to submit a full grant application through our online portal or by email at grants@eachchildfoundation.org. If you have questions at any point, you are welcome to contact us at info@eachchildfoundation.org.

A full grant application is typically no more than five pages and includes:

  • A program narrative
  • Whether the request is for a program, operating, or capital grant
  • The amount of funding requested and the administrative/overhead percentage
  • A detailed budget and budget justification
  • Audited financial statements (if available) or organizational financials
  • A program evaluation or learning plan
  • A description of any partners involved in the work
  • A timeline for implementation
  • Key staff or leadership responsible for the project
  • How the proposed work aligns with your mission and strategic priorities

As part of the review process, we may request a virtual meeting or site visit to learn more about your organization, your team, and the community you serve. We will reach out if we need additional information or clarification before a decision is made. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and decisions are typically made within 60 days of receiving a complete application.

Grant Decision

Grant decisions are communicated by email. Our process is rolling, all applicants receive an award letter or declination notice within 60 days of submitting a complete application. We will contact you during the review period if we have questions or need additional information before a final decision is made.

Reporting Requirements

Grantees are required to submit an end‑of‑year report. Reports should focus on outcomes and learning, not just activities. We ask grantees to report on the specific metrics agreed upon at the time of the grant award. We understand that programs evolve and circumstances change, and we ask grantees to communicate proactively if significant changes arise during the grant period.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we apply if we are not based in Florida or are located in another U.S. state?

Yes. We serve children and families nationally, and organizations from any U.S. state are eligible to apply. Your application should clearly describe the community you serve and how your work aligns with our mission and funding priorities.

Can international organizations apply?

International organizations may apply if they can meet U.S. charitable requirements and demonstrate the capacity to manage grant funds in compliance with U.S. regulations. We encourage international applicants to contact us before submitting an LOI.

What types of grants do you accept?

We accept program grants, general operating support, and capital requests. All grant types must align with our mission and funding priorities.

Do you offer multi‑year grants?

Yes. While most grants are one year, we consider multi‑year requests for organizations with strong alignment and demonstrated capacity.

Are faith‑based organizations eligible to apply?

Yes. Faith‑based organizations are eligible as long as they are registered nonprofits and the proposed work is non‑proselytizing and serves the broader community.

Do you fund individuals?

No. We fund nonprofit organizations and fiscally sponsored projects.

Do you require a fiscal sponsor?

Organizations without 501(c)(3) status may apply with a qualified fiscal sponsor.

Can we apply for general operating support?

Yes. We recognize that strong organizations need flexible funding. We accept operating support requests from organizations with strong mission alignment and demonstrated community impact.

What if our work doesn’t fit neatly into your priority areas?

Contact us. Our priority areas are guidelines, not boundaries. If your work meaningfully improves outcomes for children and families, we want to understand how it aligns with our mission.
